iMONITRAF! Annual Report 2021
The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic impressively illustrate the benefits of reducing traffic on the transalpine corridors: while air quality limit values were exceeded at five monitoring stations along the main transit corridors in 2019, only one station recorded an exceedance in 2020, thanks to significantly lower traffic volumes. This finding supports the iMONITRAF! approach, which focuses on modal shift as a key rationale for its common policy approach. The new iMONITRAF! Policy Pathway 2021 provides insights on how this approach can be supported by regional initiatives.
More information on this new Policy Pathway, iMONITRAF! activities on Toll Plus and the Eurovignette Directive, further networking activities and other topics are summarised in the Annual Report 2021. It provides an overview of the latest best practices in freight and passenger transport, relevant transport and environmental indicators and sets the agenda for further discussions. We invite you to take a look at this annual report to keep up to date with developments on the network.
