Factsheet - IiS: Air Quality

Ensuring good air quality along the transalpine corridors and protecting the health of residents and the environment has been a core concern of iMONITRAF! since its launch. With the new "Indicator in the spotlight" factsheet on air quality, iMONITRAF! provides a concise, data‑based overview of NO2 and PM₁₀ concentrations at the monitoring stations along the major Alpine corridors. Based on the common monitoring system and data from the Annual Report 2025, the factsheet illustrates current pollutant concentrations, highlights variations between corridors and stations, and gives insights on the role of meteorological conditions on air quality.

A particular focus is placed on the EU's revised Ambient Air Quality Directive (EU) 2024/2881, which brings significantly stricter limit values from 2030 onwards, and on what this means for the iMONITRAF! regions.
