Factsheet - IiS: Toll prices

- New factsheet “Indicator in spotlight”: Toll prices on the Alpine motorways out!

An ambitious and, as far as possible harmonized, road pricing system to internalize infrastructure and external costs and to set clear incentives for modal shift and the use of clean vehicles is a core element in the iMONITRAF! policy pathway. With the new “Indicator in the spotlight” factsheet on road tolls, iMONITRAF! provides a concise, data‑based overview of toll levels on the major Alpine motorways. Based on the common monitoring system and data from the Annual Report 2025, the factsheet illustrates current toll prices for heavy goods vehicles, highlights variations between corridors and vehicle classes, and shows recent developments between 2024 and 2025.

A particular focus is placed on recent adjustments to road pricing frameworks, including the introduction of CO₂‑based charging elements and the treatment of zero‑emission vehicles under the revised Eurovignette and the Swiss HGV fee.

The factsheet is available for download in the “Indicators in the spotlight” section on www.imonitraf.org.

If you want to learn more about the role of external costs and the need for their internalisation, we recommend the new study of EUSALP AG4 “External costs generated by transport on the Alpine corridors”, Link.
